Welcome to
Troll dog school at Trollerud
in Numedal, the medieval valley in Norway
Explore knowledge and training in a caring and beautiful environment
My philosophy and personal experience with animals evokes their natural intelligence without the use of punishment and hostility. We offer a shift in attitude towards the animals that includes sensitivity to animals’ needs and the wisdom to care for those needs. The training includes education about how to access in a compassionate manner the patience and skills to train the animals to behave in a natural and congruent manner.
Troll dog school emphasizes the importance of the owners’ awarenes of how to care for the animals’ needs. We therefore stimulate the shift in perception from what the owner wants to what the animal needs. We teach the owners to read and interpret animals’ language, and how animals give feedback (such as show results) regarding how they are treated.
Summer camp
Trollerud farm is the place for an international dog camp every summer. The last week of July you can explore and be surprised over your dog’s abilities in our beautiful surroundings. Main focus on the camp is nosework and brainwork for the dog, some indoors and some outdoors activities.
Giving seminars and workshops
Anne Lill Kvam is a popular speeker and travels the world sharing her experience with humans and dogs. She can come for anything from an evening speech to a 5 day workshop: it is your choice!
Topics may be:
- Nosework, as tracking, identity search, scent discrimination
- Specalised search, such as mine detection
- Brainwork: did you know your dog can learn about the colours? The name of over 100 different items?
- Problem solving, aggression, stress, fear
- Better training based on new insight in the dogs’ needs and behaviour.
Winter visits
At wintertime, Trollerud is your starting point for nice walks (on ski!) with your dog. There are occasionally international weekend seminars, some with and some without dogs. Please contact us for further information.
Private lessons
Many people, from Norway and from abroad, prefer to explore their dog and to learn about training and behaviour without other dogs and people present. For you, we offer stays from 3 hours to several days with daily individual lessons and training.
Accomodation and things to do
At Trollerud you can stay in our traditional Stabbur (loft), or in one of our individual log huts.
Trollerud is a traditional and protected farm at the gate of the medieval valley Numedal, also close to Telemark, the cultural heart of Norway. The wolf park (Langedrag) is nearby, the river Numedalslågen is waiting for you whether you want to swim in it, go on a canoe safari in our own boats, go trout fishing or to ski on it at winter time.
